Birthday Bouquet

Last week was Buffie's birthday, and I wanted to give her a gift card to Target, one of her favorite stores. While walking around the store looking for a cute card, I saw a bag of their gift coins. I instantly thought of making flowers, with the centers being the gift coins. This is how it turned out.....

The coins were quite a bit bigger than I expected, so I had to use my Nestabilities to cut out the circles and scalloped circles (I had been planning to use punches). Anyways, I'm trying to get back into the swing of crafty things, but wouldn't you know that I'm going on vacation this week. So we'll see what happens (or doesn't)....

Hoppy (Belated) Easter!!

Hi there! Hope you had a great Easter!! I've been relaxing and not doing much crafting. Of course, I had to make something for Easter, but decided to just make more of the baskets that I made in my last class using the Two Tags die since I had a lot of leftover pre-cut cardstock pieces.

I wanted to share some items that I received at work for Easter because they are sooooo cute! I apologize for posting them so late, but I forgot them at work(!) last week. First is an Easter Bunny that was made by Korin and her mom Pearl, using the dress die box. Can you believe this was created using only punches? Beautiful!!

and this was made by Pat using the Sizzix takeout box. I love, love, love the color of the box! So spring-y, don't you think?

Anyway, I hope you had a nice Easter!!

Baby Shower Favor

Wow....can't believe I'm posting again so soon! LOL! Before I forget, wanted to share a pic of the favors I made for my friend Dana's baby shower last Friday. She's having a girl, but didn't want pink, so she chose lavendar. Great choice (my fave color)!!

Decided to make baby carriages that I saw on berkerblog (click here for her tutorial):

I actually had a lot of fun making these, and think they turned out pretty cute! We had tons of fun at her shower playing the dirty diaper and baby food in a jar games.

Last of the Class (Samples!)

Hi again! I'm back with the last samples from Dawne's class:

This was card created with the embedded embossing technique...this was another card CASE'd from Gretchen Barron. I love how the punched pieces look flat, like they were stamped, and not adhered to the Melon Mambo CS then run through the Big Shot with the Lattice textured impressions folder. Cool!

Besides the takeout box that posted about on Girls' Day, we also made this basket using the SU! exclusive Sizzix Two Tags Bigz die. I saw a tutorial on Dawn Olchefske's blog (click here to view it). I think I'm gonna make these for the office to celebrate Easter next month.

More Class Samples

Hi there! Sorry I've been away a little longer than I planned....here are some other samples from last month's class:

I saw this card on a blog (I don't remember whose blog; I thought I saved a link, but can't find it) and LOVED it! My fave part was probably using the Chantilly lace trim. It is soooo easy to tie, and it always looks great!! This card was created with the free Sale-A-Bration Bliss stamp set.

I saw a sample of this card on a blog, and it created by someone named Nancy. I like how most of the card was created using different SU! punches. Doesn't it look yummy?

This card was a favorite with most of the ladies. The line of adhesive pearls really added a lot to the card. This was one that I found on Gretchen Barron's blog--one of my favorite blogs to visit!

The last card and the other project that we did will be posted next time. I'm pooped after staying up late to see the latest on the tsunami news and then having to wake up early to wrap gifts and prizes (talk about power wrapping!) for a baby shower I co-hosted today. Since I'm always last minute, I only finished the favors last night.

Card Samples

Here are a couple of the cards that I did for a class last month at Dawne's house (thanks, Dawne, for always being a great hostess!!)...

A super simple (and quick!) card...

We just used the Very Vintage jumbo wheel in Crumb Cake at the bottom of the Very Vanilla card (mounted on Crumb Cake CS), and stamped a sentiment at the top. Added some Crumb Cake seam binding to balance it all out. Easy, right?

...and a "yummy" card...

I saw this ice cream card on tons of blogs and wanted to make one, too! After cutting the cone and ice cream scoop using the Petal Cone Bigz L die, we added texture to the cone using one of the Perfect Details texture plates. I didn't have the Tasteful Trimz XL die to do the bottom of the ice cream, so we used the Scallop Border punch to create it instead. We sponged the pieces to add dimension, too. Cute! :)

Girls' Day

Hi all!

I know I'm super late, but just a quick post and pic of what I made for the girls in the office for Girls Day. I planned to make chichi dango to put inside, but went out for dinner the night before, so I had to buy goodies from Wholesale Unlimited instead (still yummy, though!).

This is a takeout box made from SU!'s exclusive Sizzix Petal Cone die. I saw a video online on how to make one and thought it would be absolutely perfect for Girls' Day! I also made this (different image, though) as one of the 3-D projects for my class last month. I'll share pics of the cards and the other project we did in the coming week.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you had a great day filled with lots of love and eats. I think I gained at least 5 pounds today. Everyone at work baked or bought something sweet to share, and I had to partake because I didn't want to seem rude. LOL! :)

Anyway, quick post again today to share the card that I made for my husband. It was pretty last minute as I'm prepping for a class this weekend, so I haven't had much free time the past few weeks....

Favors for a Baby Shower

Hi there! Wow, time has sure flown by quickly....just wanted to drop in and share some pics of favors I made for a baby shower someone at work was throwing for a relative.

She asked for Pooh and/or Tigger. Luckily I had a Cricut cartridge that I could use as I wasn't looking forward to trying to create them using punches otherwise. I apologize for the quality of the photos. I took them with my iPhone since I finished them on break while at work. Here's one side of the favor...

...and here's the other side...

The other 2 sides of the mini milk carton were pretty plain....I just stamped "hello baby" on the side where the milk spout would open. The Tigger side that you see above was not in my original plans. I had to add the cloud behind him because I got my sides all mixed up when stamping "hello baby". That'll teach me to just visualize it in my head! But I think it worked out ok. What do you think?

The hardest part of the favor was putting together Pooh and Tigger. I had to cut them out at 1.5" on the Cricut so that they could fit on the side of the mini milk carton. That meant that I had to draw in the eyes and eyebrows because there were only tiny slits where they were supposed to be. Thank goodness my nails are pretty long right now, or I would not have been glue the tiny pieces on (I have a hard time using craft tweezers!).

My favorite part of the favor, though, is the tiny clothespins with ribbon I used to keep the favor closed. I found the clothespins (great bargain!) and the micro glue dots at Pineapple Cove, and the ribbon (just what I was looking for) was from Stamps & Memories.

Wow...Christmas sure came and went FAST, yeah? I barely finished making the calendars I gave away for Christmas. I had to make a bunch as favors for a Christmas luncheon earlier this month, but they were so much fun to make, I decided to make more to give away. I believe this was originally designed by Jean of Dandelion Designs, but I learned to make it at PhotoCraft during a Make & Take last month.

Here's a shot of several of the calendars....aren't they colorful?

The most challenging part of making these was finding cute decorate paper, since cardstock was too thick for the folding.

Cute Christmas Ornaments

I had to make an ornament for Darin to take to work, and saw some cute ornaments on the Ben Franklin Craft Club website, so I had to try and make one. It came out pretty cute and now I can't stop making 'em! Here's the one Darin took to work...

And here are some others....

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but they are like shaker boxes. I popped the snowmen up using three layers of foam tape. Then added some Polar White Flower Soft and Martha Stewart Holiday Glitter and for added "sparkle" some Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter too. I'm planning to give these to some co-workers with their Christmas gifts. I have one more pack of MS snowman stickers, so I'm gonna make five more and give them to my mom and my in-laws. Hope they like them!

Simple Christmas Card

Hi all! Just wanted to share a super simple Christmas card that I had to make to mail out to my in-laws and another relative...

This image from Pink Cat Studio was one of many that I bought before this year, always intending to use for cards and stuff, but never got around to actually doing it! So I'm happy that I finally put some ink on the rubber and created something!!! :)

Just a quick post...wanted to share what I made for the peeps at work for Halloween:

It was made with a die from PTI...when I saw it, I just thought of candy corn. I love candy corn things, but not the actual stuff to eat. I thought this was the correct pattern for the colors, but not sure cuz I've also seen candy corn with the yellow on top and the orange in the middle. Well either way, I think it came out pertty cute! :)

And yes, of course I filled 'em up with candies before passing them out. Actually the favor itself doesn't hold much, so I put the box into a cello bag and added more stuff!

Belated Birthdays and Blogaversary!

I've been soooo out of the crafting mood, I hadn't finished any projects in months! I finally got around to trying out Teri's tea light cake tutorial, which I had been meaning to do ever since she posted it (OMG that was 5 months ago!!). I bought tons of tea light candles in anticipation of all the fat-free cake making I was gonna do, but....nothing.....until now....

Here are the cakes I made for girls at the office, who celebrated birthdays the last few months:

I used color-changing LED tea light candles that I found on clearance during my trip to Vegas last month. They are sooo cute in person!

Cute Graduation Cards!

Wow...can't believe it's been over 2 months since I last posted! Well I finally had to create some cards, so here I am.

I was looking on various blogs for cards using the Go, Graduate! set from SU!, and I found the cutest graduation cap cards on Dawn Olchefske's blog here, so I totally had to CASE them! The best part.....they were quick and easy! :)

I think the "funnest" part was making the tassel for the grad cap. Don't look too close, though, otherwise you'll see that I didn't use a gold/yellow ribbon. The closest I could find was some Apricot Appeal. Oops!

Card Class Part III

Oops...I uploaded the pictures of the last cards from class, but left it in edit mode, so it never got posted. Anyway, I don't have access to my notes and stuff, so I can't give credit to the women whose cards I CASEd below...I'll be sure to post it when I make it back home.

I liked this card. The front is only the two little panels, and the pink that you see is actually from the inside of the card. I thought the ladies might be a little challenged with the cutting on this one, but they did a great job (waaaay better than I did)!

And this sympathy card is so beautiful in person. The original card I saw was done in Cameo Coral, but wanted to do something in blue. Love the color combo of Bashful Blue and Brocade Blue, so I'm really sad that Brocade Blue will be retired by Stampin' Up! at the end of June.

Unfortunately I didn't upload a picture of the "bonus" project we did. It was a birdhouse, like the ones that popped up everywhere a while back. Oh well you'll just have to take my word that it turned out pretty cute! LOL

Anyway, it's been a long week...not used to working 5 days a week anymore, so I am beat. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Easter Baskets

Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice Easter yesterday....I was tired just watching all the kids running around trying to find eggs!

Although it's a day late, just wanted to share what I made for the girls in the office this year. I surprised myself by actually making something--I wanted to make these baskets for Easter last year! :)

And a close-up of the brads---aren't they ginormous? I ordered these by mistake; I wanted the medium-sized ones, but ordered large. Some people made fun of them cuz they're sooo huge, but I thought they looked cute on these baskets!

Card Class Part II

Here a few more cards we did in last week's card class with Jo, Dawne and their friends....

This pretty card was a CASE from Josee Smuck. Wanted to use the Butterfly Bigz die on a card, and this was the perfect card. I just added some adhesive pearls (non-SU!) to add a little something-something....

This card was CASEd from Jackie Bolhuis' blog. When I saw this card, I just had to recreate it! It was so simple, but stunning at the same time (LOVE the colors!!). Unfortunately when I got to Dawne's house and unloaded all my stuff, I realized that I forgot to pack my ornament punch, which is used for the vase on this card. I ended up using my Round Tab punch (cut in half, so you can make two vases out of one punchout) instead to make a little different (and slightly smaller) vase for the flowers.

And finally, this card was CASEd from Dawn Olchefske's blog. I loved being able to make use of the Boho Blossoms punch to make the cute bouquet. Since I had used the Modern Label punch to frame the Word Window punch for the sentiments on most of the cards, I decided to use two Word Window punchouts for this card, just offsetting the Elegant Eggplant punchout so that it would act as a shadow for the sentiment.

Card Class Part I

This past Sunday I had a card class for Jo and Dawne and their friends. It was the first time I met Dawne and her friends, but I had a blast! Michele went with me to assist, and thank goodness she did! She is so super-organized, everything went pretty smoothly.

Here are three of the cards we made....I'll share the rest in later posts.

This card was inspired by one I saw on Beate John's blog. I love using the satin ribbons...so easy to tie!

This card was CASEd from Debbie Naylor's blog. I just changed the color (LOVE this in Melon Mambo!) and layered the sentiment.

And finally this card was CASEd from Jen Sannes' blog. I changed the colors since I didn't have the same DSP available. This was one of my favorite cards. We used the blender pens to give the flowers a watercolor effect.

Anyway, hope you had a nice Good Friday. It was a holiday for me, so I just vegged at home since Darin had to work!

Gorgeous Checkbook Cover!!

WOW....look what I received last week from Korin! Isn't this checkbook cover just exquisite? She and her mom Pearl are total punch fanatics--can you tell? LOL

I can't believe that everything was created with punches or dies...just amazing! I was lucky enough to be able to choose which one I wanted, because no two were alike. And to think, that this was one of the more simple ones.

Thank you so much, Korin and Pearl!! I love it so much, I don't know if I can bear to actually use it! :O)

And on another note, I will start creating again (hopefully soon), but am tasked with cleaning my craft room first. Those who know me know that I am super messy, so they can only imagine how bad it really is (and then multiply that by 10!)...fingers crossed that I'll make some major headway next week when my husband is out of town on business.

OMG....I made a card!

Yep, I'm back but super rusty so my card is rather simple. I even had a hard time coloring!! :D Oh well, that'll teach me to not take such a looooong break between cards, right?

Anyway, my brother just got a promotion, and we're all going to dinner tonight to celebrate. So I decided just last night that I was going to make a card so I wouldn't have to buy one. And since I have tons of corny phrases running around in my mind, I knew what I wanted the card to say....just had to make a card to match it.

The sad thing was that at the same time, I took a bit of a break from going to other people's blogs (and Facebook!) too, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. Crossing my fingers that I'll start crafting regularly again....

Coaster Calendar Thank You's

Happy New Year! Boy, can't believe that Christmas is over and we're halfway through January already!! Can you tell I've been busy with everything except crafting? LOL..

Work's been super busy and family life's been pretty hectic, too! I did manage to make some simple coaster calendars as thank you's for Christmas gifts from relatives and close family friends.

And here's a close-up shot...

After adhering patterned paper to the front of the coaster I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch and set eyelets at the top of the coaster so I could tie my ribbon. Then I put cardstock (same color as the mat for the calendar) to the back to hide the eyelets. Finished up by using my Corner Chomper to make the corners all "pretty", then some magnet tape so it can be used on a refrigerator or file cabinet. Easy, right?

Well, I'm off on another last-minute trip tomorrow, so I'll be MIA for a little while again....sorry!

Desktop Easel Calendar

Wanted to share the last project from the workshop....a desktop easel calendar with drawer. I love all the easel cards I've seen all over the internet, but when I saw this on Tammy Maxvill's blog, I knew I wanted to create one, too! Mine wasn't as fancy as Tammy's since I was trying to be "good" and not order everything I liked in SU!'s catalog, I had to work with the current SU! Christmas supplies I had on hand....

Memo Pad Holder

Here's another creation from last week's workshop....a memo pad holder. I got the idea from a desk organizer filled with cards and envelopes that I bought at the HGEA craft fair last month. This holder was made to hold three 3"x5" memo pads that I picked up from Fisher.

I was happy with how elegant it looked....totally loving that Rich Razzleberry! :D

Cute Matchbox Purse!

I saw lots of cute matchbox purses on blogs and thought everyone in last week's workshop would enjoy making them, too. I CASEd this from Liz Miller...see her post here. Isn't it cute?

I brought back some Belgian chocolate candies from Trader Joe's and they fit perfectly in the box (extra bonus that they were in Christmas colors)!

The second project we made in last Sunday's workshop was a Post-It organizer, which I found on Angie Juda's blog here. I just loooove Rich Razzleberry, because it's so, well....rich! LOL...anyways, here's a pic of the organizer closed:

We used the Champagne Mist shimmer paint to add some sparkle to the image on the front and make it look a little more Christmas-y. This was the first time I used it, and it was really pretty and very easy to use.

Treat Carrier Box

I had a small gift class for Jo and her friends on Sunday. The first project was a Treat Carrier box, which I've seen all over the internet the past few months. This was super quick and easy, just adhering two Box #2 diecuts back to back. We filled the carrier with a Post-It pad on one side and assorted Christmas candies on the other, then tied it up in a clear plastic treat bag. Such a cute and simple gift!

Christmas Card for Teri's Holiday Party

Yes....I'm finally back! Hopefully for good this time. LOL! After taking almost a month and a half off, it was soooo hard to get back to crafting. Jo and I went to Teri's holiday party this past Saturday, and we each had to make a Christmas card as our grab bag. OMGosh, talk about S-T-R-E-S-S....no idea where to start! I remembered seeing a really pretty card somewhere online where a wreath was made with punches and wanted to try to make a similar one . I decided to use my MS Glacial Snowflake punch since it was right in front of me, and this is how my Christmas card turned out:

Not too bad for my first card in almost 2 months....I think. The party itself was TONS of fun--Teri had set up stations where we could make ornaments, and they were all so cute and fun to make. But the absolute funnest part was when we tried to put the Sizzix 3-D Christmas tree pop-up die together! And I have to admit that when we finished it, it was really pretty, but I don't know if I would attempt it again by myself. Jo and I enjoyed meeting everyone else and the food was so good!! Well, I finally got my computer back from the shop this week, but I lost everything! I have an external hard drive, but I couldn't see any of my old stuff, so I am really worried!! Hope my husband is able to find out what's going on with all of this....

Anyway just a quick post.....wanted to share what I designed for my friend at work to make for Halloween (see, I wasn't totally slacking!! LOL). Her sister is a teacher and is always looking for cute treat holders.

Here is Fancy Favor Frankie:

I think he turned out pretty cute even though we were going for scary! But that's not a bad thing since these were for elementary school kids, right? And you're probably wondering if we actually poked the push pins through the side of the favor, and the answer is "no". I asked Michele to ask her husband to cut off the metal part and then sand them down. The push pins could then be adhered with mini glue dots to the bag!

Frankie's hair was done by cutting some strips of black cardstock and laying them across the top of the Fancy Favor die. Then I turned it upside down and adhered it to the top of the green Fancy Favor bag. (Note: I put his hair as high up on the box as I could so that he wouldn't look short and fat) This way I wouldn't have to cut fringe for his hair.

Hi there! Yes, I'm still around....I was looking for my mojo, but didn't find it! Just a warning---this is a "woe is me" post...no crafting involved, so no hard feelings if ya just wanna skip it entirely! LOL

After coming back from my trip last month, I just couldn't get back into the swing of things and start creating again....but then I thought I was gonna get back into it when I went to two Make-and-Takes at a couple of BF stores this past Saturday. We made such cute projects with Cheryl and Cheri that I was getting antsy to start crafting at home again. Well, it was gonna start with me posting pics of the Hello Kitty Halloween takeout box and Christmas treat bag that we made, but when I woke up Sunday, my computer wouldn't boot up! So I turned my husband's computer on and found that I couldn't get on the internet. So after he finally rolled out of bed, I asked him about his computer and found out that he lost the internet connection on Saturday night. What junk timing, yeah?

Well little did I know that my Sunday was only going to get "better"....after taking my computer in to Best Buy to have it looked at, we got a call that it wasn't just the hard drive, but something more (not sure what, but it didn't sound good), so now I'll be without my computer for about 3 weeks or so since they have to send it to the mainland to be worked on! Those on Facebook know that I have been getting into some of the FB applications, and it really hit home on just how addicting FB has become....I felt so cut off from the world without being able to jump on a computer and check on my farm crops, fish tanks or play with my pet pig, Porky Sue! :D Is that sad, or what?? Luckily, my sister has an extra laptop that she is graciously letting me use while I'm computer-less....BUT I don't wanna load all my stuff on her computer, so my postings and pics might be pretty erratic (yes, more than it has been lately!) during this time...

Happily, I had a pretty good day at work today. Very busy, but little things like the elevator just being there when I push the button and still waiting for me when I was going back to my floor, really perked me up! Doesn't take much, huh?

Anyways, hope your week is going better than mine started off....

Hello Kitty Gift Card Holders

First of all, wanted to apologize that my last post didn't have the picture of my Fifth Avenue card. I was having trouble uploading from my phone, but thought I had it worked out. But I didn't....anyway, click here to see the updated post.

Well, I'm back from Vegas and never thought I would be so happy to return to the weather here. Vegas was HOT, HOT, HOT!! Over 100 degrees during the day and not going below 90 degrees at night. I think the worst was when we tailgated before the UH/UNLV game, and it was 106 degrees!! The game itself was a bummer since we lost a heartbreaker at the end....but we met lots of cool people and ate great local food. And the one bright spot was that I won some money for winning the 3rd quarter pool. But I still came home with much lighter pockets! hahaha Anyways, on to today's real post....

There are lots of people at work who just love Hello Kitty (who doesn't, right? LOL), so we decided to make some HK gift card holders to sell at the mini craft fair. I had to beg Korin to make all the HK faces since she is really great at this kind of detailed stuff (and she's super quick to boot!).

These proved to be more popular than we expected, and they sold out in a few minutes! I made over 80 of them and couldn't believe that they were all gone before the official start of the sale. But that's a good thing, right, since it was all for charity?!

Happy Wednesday! Just wanted to share another of the sympathy cards that I made for the craft fair at work....yes, it's very similar to the card that was made with the Garden Silhouettes stamp set, but when doing sympathy cards, I think simple is better. I just loved this image from the Asian Artistry set, and finally got a chance to ink it up.

A Card for Mini Craft Fair

The last couple of weeks I've been busy planning and working on a bake sale and mini craft fair that we were putting on at work to raise money for the AUW. Monday was D-Day and boy was it crazy! We were lucky to have many people donate beautiful handmade items for us to sell at the craft fair which enabled us to raise more money than we expected. Of course as one of the "party" planners, I had to contribute something....I had several specific requests for sympathy cards because as morbid as it may be, we all need them. I've been meaning to make cards with all the cute TGF stamps I've bought over the last few months, but often don't get past coloring 'em....the layout of this card was done using the SC244 sketch.

I don't know....it feels like something is missing on the bottom half of the card. I think I should have added some bling or pearls to the it to "finish" it. I had to cut the mat layer since the next size up in Labels Six left too big a border around the white layer, so don't look too close, OK? :D

Fun Day!

Yesterday was the Paper Party at the PC Ben Franklin....it was a fun day filled with different Make & Takes that we could do for a small fee or just watch demos on different topics relating to crafting. Here is the MnT we did with Cheryl, using Sizzix diecuts....

Don't you think it's too cute to open up? It was super quick and easy to make, especially since Cheryl spoiled us all and had everything precut. Thanks, Cheryl!

Jean from Dandelion Designs was also there, and we made a cute little favor that held cute candies!

Elliot is the cutest thing around, don't you agree? This was also a quick and fun project to make.

We also made projects with Joy and some talented members of the PC Ben Franklin staff. After we left, Jo took me to Scrapbook Heaven where they were having a sale on patterned paper (yah, can't have too much of that!) and other things. Sale is until Monday, so you still have a chance to get in on the savings!

Mojo Monday 100 (Mary) Sketch

Mojo Monday was celebrating their 100th sketch by posting a new sketch everyday last week. Here's a card I made with the 8/23/09 sketch from Mary....

I was anxious to try the "out-of-the-frame" look with the Nestabilities that Joy showed off on her blog a couple of weeks ago. As you can see, my cut was a little off, so I guess Miss Anya is sitting on a slanted wall...LOL! :D I think the hardest part for me was figuring out what I colors/papers I was going to use for the layout since I usually color my images first and then try to find paper to match it. The card was finished up by adding some Dew Drops that I just picked up from Little C's last week (thanks, Jen!).

Make & Take with Cheryl

Yesterday I went to J's Knicknacks with Jo to do a Make & Take with Cheryl. I was happy to learn that we would be doing a slider card. I've always wanted to do one, but it looked too complicated for me. However, it was pretty easy and came out rather cute!

Here's a shot of it "closed"....

And when the ribbon is pulled, a cute double message slides into view...

The woodgrain background was stamped with Versamark Dazzle in Champagne, then embossed with clear EP. A little touch, but it really added a lot to the card.

While at J's, I picked up some of the new Cuttlebug folders and one of the new Spellbinders medallion dies. Cheryl shared a card she made with a medallion die, so I had to buy one, too! Thanks, Cheryl, for a great (and fun!) make and take yesterday!

Happy Birthday, Michele!

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Michele who is celebrating her birthday today! I wanted to give her some things she could use, but needed a way to package it up. So me being the total procrastinator, didn't start on it until 9:00 p.m. last night (that's late for me because I wake up super-duper early in the morning to watch my taped soap operas!)....so I had to make quick and easy!! I decided to make a personalized box to hold all her goodies.

And here it is all opened up (and empty!)....

And yes, I used a magnetic closure like the one on my card holder here. The only real difference is I had to reinforce the strap that held the magnet since I used a large magnet and the "pull" was quite strong. I had to finish diecutting and assembling the letters of her name this morning before work, so I apologize for the lighting in the pictures.

Hope Michele enjoyed her goodies!

Last night I finally sat down to make the birthday card I needed to give to my co-worker for her baby's 1st birthday. I decided to use the new SU! Build-A-Bear set since I could add a party hat and balloon to the image of the boy bear. Since her color scheme was turquoise and brown, I decided to start there. I thought using Tempting Turquoise would be a little too much for this card, though, so I used the recently retired Baja Breeze with Soft Suede. And since I didn't start this until right before I was going to sleep, I had to make it a simple card.

I have to admit that I didn't know if I would be using these 2 stamp sets much, but I really liked it! And the sentiments in the Beary Nice Wishes set are so universal and it's in that Build-A-Bear font, too!

Anyway, I hope she likes the card....

Simple Gatefold Wedding Card

So I finally finished the wedding card we need for tomorrow...not quite how I pictured it, but OK with how it turned out. I've been wanting to make a gatefold card and thought this would be the perfect card for it.

Don't look too close at the card as I had to color the outer edge of the couple's image since the next larger size die left a border that was way too wide! To add a little more something, I applied some Crystal Effects on the liquid in the wine glasses to give it gloss and make it look like real champagne. Also added some Stickles glitter glue to the bride's ensemble to make her look not so "flat" and just add dimension.

Just used a simple phrase for the inside....

I was supposed to finish this card as well as a baby's first birthday card by tonight, but my schedule got a little thrown off since I ended up eating dinner out with my husband. We got home early, but I was soooo tired after my shower that I couldn't even start on a card. Guess this means I'll have to finish the birthday card over the weekend and give it to my friend on Monday....

Thoughts & Prayers Sympathy Card

I was so super lazy this past week, I did absolutely no stamping, so now I'm paying the price....I have a funeral tomorrow, so I had to make a sympathy card. And we have a wedding to attend on Friday, so I have to make a card for that, too. AND since I couldn't make my friend's baby's 1st birthday party on Saturday, I have to make a card by Friday for that as well so I can give it to her at work! Oh, when will I learn that it's never good to procrastinate....

Anyway, I decided to create a simple sympathy card using the tree from the Thoughts & Prayers set from SU! Since I wanted to make different colored leaves, it took me longer than I expected to stamp, color and huff on the image (plus I dropped the stamp the first time, then I cut the next image wrong....LOL), but I finally finished!

I'm working on the tutorial that a couple of people requested for the card holder I made last week (see post here). In my original post I mentioned that the person that I was making it for wasn't the "girly" type, so I held back from making it into a purse. Rich Razzleberry Hope

I needed to create a card for my friend who celebrated a birthday last week (yes, I'm always late!), so I decided to ink up one of the girls (sorry, don't know which one is Hope and which one is Grace!) from the Hope & Grace set from The Greeting Farm. I found a great sketch from Lauren Meader's blog (see sketch here), so all that was left was to put it all together. I am really loving the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, so I busted it out again for this card....

I punched out a 1/2" circle out of the same patterned paper as the 2 accent pieces and made my brad. I also sponged some Rich Razzleberry around the edges of the flower to deepen the original color. Hope Dana enjoys her card!

Grad Anya Money Holder

Tonight is the graduation party for Michele's daughter, so I needed a card. I decided to do a money holder using the Grad Anya digital image from The Greeting Farm. I cut out the card, then realized I had no idea what my layout was gonna be. ...so after staring at the blank card for a couple of hours(!), I came up with this:

I'm not totally happy with the way it turned out, but it'll have to do; main thing is the thought and what's inside, right? :D Oh, and the "Congratulations!" sentiment was done on the computer...I really liked the way the word looked in that font. Card Holder

Last night was pretty hectic for me....I had to make a card holder for the cards I made for my friend at work. Thank goodness I was able to mock up a spec before work yesterday, so it made it easier for me last night. I also had to bake a pan of mochi since we're having a surprise luau luncheon for her. If anyone has a good recipe for microwave mochi, please share it with me. I hear it's a lot easier and faster to make.

Anyways, here's a look of the holder from the front while it's closed:

I wanted to put handles on it to make it look like a purse, but she sooo not into that kind of stuff. So Michele suggested I leave 'em off and make it look like a portfolio instead. To keep it closed, I used a button magnet from Basic Grey (I hid the other side under the polka dot paper).

Yah, that title is soooo lame! :D I'm just happy that I finished up the thank you cards for my friend, so I now I can work on packaging the cards for her....Melon Mambo is one of the new In Colors from SU!, and I have to admit I really liked it from the start. And I thought it would look great with the Circle Circus stamp set. So what do you think?

It's a little plain, but I really wanted to create simple cards that could be done in just a few minutes since I had to make several of them.

Simple Sympathy Card

One of my friends at work will be retiring at the end of the week, so Michele and I decided to each make a set of cards as a farewell gift for her. First up, sympathy cards. Yes I know it sounds rather morbid, but it's something that she (unfortunately) needs every so often. So here is a set of 4 simple sympathy cards....

I used some of the paper that was leftover from my last card to just add a little something to the card and keep it from looking a little too plain.

The Sweetest Thing - Michele's B/W Challenge

Happy Aloha Friday!!! Yay....I finally finished my card for Michele's Black & White Challenge...and it's not even Sunday yet! hahaha.....I wanted to try out SU's new Bigz XL die, Look Here, to make a gift card holder, but had no design in mind (besides it being black and white!). However, once I saw the new Martha Stewart punches, I knew what I wanted to try to do (because rarely do my cards turn out the way I pictured them). It took me several tries to find a card base size that would allow me to punch the loopy design evenly, but I'm glad I kept trying. Little did I know it at that time, but that would be the easy part of this card. I must admit that it was frustrating for me to put the gift card holder part together. I watched several different videos to see how it was supposed to be constructed before I finally finished this one. But now that I know how to do it, it will be much easier and faster the next time! :D

I couldn't find any gift cards that were just black & white (to keep with the theme), but I had a black and clear card that worked just fine. And I just used rub-ons for the sentiments on the outside and inside.

Mojo 95 & Dandelion Challenge

Wow....it's Sunday already! I swear that the weekends go by so quickly!! Anyways, it was my turn to pick a challenge, so I decided that we had to create something using at least 2 Dandelion Designs stamps. Not too bad, right? Well, it was harder than I thought because I couldn't find my huge stash of Dandelion stamps. I found some of them, but the problem was I didn't have words to match most of my images. In the end, I used the one set that went together and used the Mojo Monday 95 sketch for my layout.

Although you can't tell from this angle, I popped a second layer of the owls to give it some dimension. If you haven't had a chance yet, check out Michele's super cute card here.

Mojo 94 & Michele's In Color/Butterfly Challenge

Wow....can't believe I finished my card for Michele's challenge. Since I challenged her last time to create a card using only brown, she issued a challenge of her own: Create a card using SU's new In Colors as well as incorporating a butterfly (or two!) in the layout. I decided to use Mojo Monday Sketch 94 for my layout.

Heehee, can you see the butterfly? Since I could only fit a teensy-tiny one, I decided to have it stand out a bit by using Bermuda Bay CS to punch it out. And miracle of miracles, I had a button from Making Memories that totally matched the Rich Razzleberry color!

This card was really challenging for me since the new In Colors are all so bold, and I had to step out from my comfort zone. Thanks, Michele, for a great challenge!! Let's see what I can think up for our next challenge....

I'm so happy that I finally finished the wedding card that we need for tomorrow....it totally came out different than what I had pictured, but I like it. I used the Cake Topper set from The Greeting Farm again. The couple is so cute; they remind me of Precious Moments characters.

Here's a close-up view....I used foam tape to add an extra layer of the roses in her hair and the ribbon bow on her dress. Can you see it?

My hair coloring with Copics is still a work in progress...but I think I'm getting better. Hoping practice makes perfect!!

How Was Your 4th...?

Wow, it's been more than a week since I last posted. Time sure flies when you're just lounging around and just thinking about what you should be creating, but not actually doing it! :D

Friday was a holiday for Darin and me, and we just stayed home and did laundry. I didn't mind too much since I knew that I could go (craft store) shopping on Saturday....and boy, did I! Darin is so patient and takes me to the stores on the weekend. I ended up going to BF and buying some Iris cases that were on Early Bird special as well as some of the new EK Success punches that fold flat for storage. Then we went to eat some breakfast, went to another BF (to look for a border punch that wasn't at the Pa'a St. store) then headed out to Kahala Mall. While there, I finally got to check out Pineapple Cove. Wow, I really like that store!! He then took me to PhotoCraft, where I got to make this awesome MnT card....

Isn't it beautiful? We used different sizes of the scalloped oval and circle Nestabilities to make this card, and the paper was so shimmery. Thanks, Brian, this was fun and pretty easy to do!!

My shopping continued on to J's Knicknacks where I picked up some more "necessities" before heading out to the BF at Pearl City before finally making it home. Darin's day got even better (hahaha) when Michele called to say her husband and his friends had caught 'ono, and they were going to drop some off for him.

That night we watched the fireworks shows at Magic Island and Pearl Harbor from our lanai. Here are some pics from the Pearl Harbor show (Magic Island was a little too far away for the shots to come out clear and reasonably sized)....

This was the first time I used the "fireworks" setting on my camera, and I was happy with the way the pictures came out.

Hope I'll be able to post something tomorrow, since I have to finish a wedding card I'll need for Wednesday evening....hope you had a great 4th of July and have a wonderful Monday!

All Brown Color Challenge

I challenged Michele to come up with a card using only brown or sepia tones and she came up with this great card. Since she came through, I couldn't flake on her....this time! :D I colored Flutter Anya from The Greeting Farm in brown tones then cut her out and adhered her to a 5" square of Kraft CS. I decided to use the cutout frames and pop it up with foam tape so it would sorta be a frame. Added some Copper Stickles to her wings and the back of the brown dew drops to finish it off. So, what do you think?

Graduation Riley

Quick post today....gotta go to a grad party in a little while, so of course I didn't make a card until this afternoon! I had ordered a bunch of Riley stamps from Hanna Stamps a few weeks back, but had put them on the side after trimming them. Graduation Riley was the perfect size for the card I wanted to make. I saw Weekend Sketch Challenge #86 and thought it would be great to do. However, Riley was a little too big for WSC86 if I wanted to use a standard A2 card (and I did!), so I had to do a stripped-down version of the sketch. It's a little plain, but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Happy Monday! Today's card took me a little longer than usual to put together cuz there's lots of bling on it (I counted 37!)....here's Hula Anya from The Greeting Farm doing her thang on the beach....isn't she cute??

I had a lot of fun coloring her and was super happy when the flowers I had matched her perfectly! Drew my "usual" background of sand and sponged in the sky....then printed out my sentiment from my computer (oops, forgot to add the 'okina in front of 'Oe) and colored the white with my Copic marker to match the color scheme.

Birthday Post-It Note Holder

Yesterday was my friend Korin's birthday, so I wanted to make her something she could use. I have to admit that I only did this last night (I'm safe, though, since she was off from work!), but only because I haven't been able to do anything since Friday. After going to the eye doctor on Friday afternoon, I couldn't focus on anything until late that night (so that left stamping and coloring out). Saturday was better, but my eyes were still sensitive to light, so I didn't want to further strain my eyes by working on any projects. And Sunday, well, that was my day of rest! LOL....but I did manage to stamp and color a few images of Changito the Monkey! That made creating this Post-It Note holder super quick and easy last night. I saw a tutorial on Angie's blog here and knew I just had to make one for Korin.

This Bud's For You (TECC71)

My husband and I were off today in observance of Kamehameha Day, so he had something special planned for us----waxing our SUV! Since we hadn't done it for a super long time, it took extra elbow grease to get a good coat on there. By the time we finished, I didn't feel like doing anything except retreating to my craft room to color. I had downloaded a cute (and free!) digital image of a turtle from Whimsiedoodles, so I was anxious to bring him to life. After I finished coloring a couple of images, I wanted to make a card with him, but hit a roadblock on the layout. I saw a sketch on Taylor's blog that I thought would be perfect for this image.

Birthday Gift Card Holder

Hi all! Hope your week is going along great....looking forward to the holiday on Thursday. Too bad I didn't put in for vacation on Friday to make a long weekend!

Anyway, today I wanted to share a gift card holder I made for my boss's birthday tomorrow. This will be from all of us in the office. I was having a hard time coming up with something, but remembered a gift card holder I saw recently on Jill's Card Creations. I decided to use a Princess Anya image again since I had a couple left that I had colored but hadn't yet used.

Here's a shot of the outside of the gift card holder (without the ribbon to hold it closed):

I had to tie the ribbon looser than I liked since it would be slid off and on. All in all, not too thrilled with how it looked, but I liked that the colors matched the printed paper perfectly!

And finally, here's a shot of the gift card holder all opened up. I added an extra piece of cardstock to the top portion since a bunch of us needed to write messages for the birthday girl! Don't mind the background (it was taken on my desk at work) since I needed to get a pic before it was signed by everyone! :D

Beach Princess Anya

It's a beautiful day here in Hawaii, so of course, Princess Anya headed to the beach! Here she is with her sand castle in the background....

This card was easy to put together, and I think it came out pretty good. Just wish I could draw so the background could be better....I sponged the sky with Cool Caribbean ink to match Anya's dress and also sponged the castle with Creamy Caramel (base color) and Close to Cocoa (edges) after it was diecut in Whisper White.

Howdy Pardner!

Things have been busy for me the last couple of weeks, with my in-laws flying in for the last two weekends (yes, they actually flew home during the week and came back to Honolulu before the end of the same week!), so we've been having family dinners and stuffs...you know how it is! :D Anyways, I colored some images of Sheriff Ian by The Greeting Farm a while back, but never got around to using it in a card. I pictured a western-type theme (of course!), but of course, it didn't come out quite the way I envisioned it. Oh well....

Here's what the card looks like before the swinging doors are opened....

And here's Sheriff Ian making his entrance at the Last Chance Saloon....

I was too lazy to look for word stamps, so I ended up writing the sayings out by hand....but after this I think I probably should have looked for the stamps after all! You can't tell from the picture, but Sheriff Ian was adhered with foam tape to give him some dimension and the "wood" pieces, including the swing doors" are also popped up with foam tape.

Make & Take with Jean

Just wanted to share the Make & Take we did we Jean from Dandelion Designs this past Friday at Crafts in the City. We made a cute mini scrapbook in honor of National Scrapbook month. Here's a picture of the project with it all tied up closed...

After I got home, I added Stickles glitter glue to the cherry and made brown dots on all the scallops. Don't think you can see it, but the scalloped portion was adhered with Pop Dots to add dimension.

And here's what it looks like all opened up....

On the inside portion, we stamped sayings from Dandelion Designs. I chose the birthday one since Max the dog was carrying a cupcake. We had a lot of fun making this mini book because it was quick, easy and cute! Thank you, Jean, for a great Make & Take!

Hi! Just a quick post today....wanted to share the Make & Take that we got to do with Jean from Dandelion Designs yesterday at the Market City Ben Franklin Crafts. BFC was having their Paper Party, but since I heard about it on Friday (thanks, Cathy!) I was only able to go in the morning for a short time. I was super happy that Jean was there because she always has the cutest (and smallest!) projects for us to create. This time she totally outdid herself because we made the coolest gift card holder!

I've been trying to figure out how to make a card with the Teacher Anya stamp that I bought a while back from The Greeting Farm. Well, when I saw this sketch, I could just picture a card using that stamp. But since most of the Anya stamps tend to be on the larger side, this card is actually a 5" x 7" card instead of the standard A2 size. Whaddaya think of my take on SC13???

I've had this roll of Chalkboard Contact paper for a couple of years....it was one of those things where I just had to have it, but didn't know what to do with it after I got it! I tried using Zig's chalk marker in white, and was totally surprised when it actually looked like chalk! :D

The picture above is of my clown loach "Loachie" being smashed by his fellow loach "Saddle". On the far left is "Junior". Yes, they have strange names, but it makes remembering them so much easier! Saddle is always swimming around trying to make trouble to Loachie. Here's a classic example! :D Anyway, Loachie is the senior fish of the tank (and he never lets the other fish forget it!)....

And here's a shot of the whole tank---can you see the bala sharks?

I don't think you can see the Plecostamus (is that how you spell it?), but he's there somewhere. This is actually a pretty large tank for our apartment---55 gallons, to be exact. The big bala shark is about 10 inches long and Loachie is about 8 inches long. Anyway, just wanted to share my "family" with y'all...

Today's card was created with another image from the Miss Anya set Rain, Snow, Shine from The Greeting Farm that Michele stamped for me. I used the Shine image and had Miss Anya go to the beach.

The beach background with created with Copic markers since I couldn't find any patterned paper in my stash that fit the card.

Accordion Fold Card

On Saturday, I went to PhotoCraft to do some shopping and was pleasantly surprised when I found out Brian was doing an accordion fold card as a Make-and-Take. I'd never done one of these because they look so complicated, but he said it was easy to make. Guess what? He was right! Here's a view of the front of the card...

SFYTT with Rain Anya

My friend Michele gave me some images from the Rain, Snow, Shine set of Miss Anyas from The Greeting Farm that she won from the Club Anya blog the other week. They are all soooooo cute, I couldn't resist making something with it! I used this week's SFYTT from Jen del Muro for my layout.

When I saw this image of Miss Anya in the little raincoat and boots, it made me think of those yellow ones from back in the day. But Miss Anya had to have a set that matched her umbrella as well as down to the piping all around her coat and boots. Can you see the Crystal Effects that was applied to her raincoat and boots as well as the puddles at her feet and from the umbrella? I know this picture isn't that great, but I used my flash to capture the shine from the Crystal Effects.

Mojo Monday 86 with Grad Anya

Yay, I finally did it! I actually finished Mojo Monday Challenge #86!! I've been having such a hard time getting in the mood to create, but I had to create tonight since I was making this card for someone else to give! Well, whatever works, right? LOL....

Anyways, I used the Grad Anya digistamp from The Greeting Farm as the main focal image for this card. And it worked out great that the graduation cap and diploma dies from Quickutz fit perfectly!

I used my Copic marker (Olive G99) to color my grad cap diecut so it would match Anya's cap and also used foam tape under both the grad cap and diploma so the card wouldn't be so flat. I'm pretty happy with my first attempt at this challenge. Hope I'm up to trying it again!

Birthday Gift Card Holder

Quick post today....had to make a gift card holder for my new sister-in-law's birthday (we're all going to dinner tonight). A friend at work had given me a gift card holder that her daughter had received and thought I could use it as inspiration later (sorry I don't have a picture of it). This is how my version turned out:

Each piece was 3.5" x 4" and the top piece was 5.5" x 4". Used a small piece of velcro to close the card and a removable glue dot to hold the gift card onto the bottom piece. Gold cord was knotted on the inside after piercing holes through the folded portion at the top.

What a Weekend...

Sorry, no crafting today, just ranting....

Gee, can't believe it's been a week and a half since I last posted! Since I got back from Hilo, I've just been soooo tired and feeling like I didn't have enough time in the day (every day!). Then the weekend came and now I feel like I need another couple of days off to recover (but I won't! LOL)...all week, I've been telling Michele that I wanted to do the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #84, and all week, I've been working on it (well, sort of....). Anyway, thought I'd be able to finish it on Saturday, but didn't realize that I would be out a-l-l day! Darin and I had to get up early to pick one of our nephews up to take him to his baseball game in town. Then after the game, we had to rush him over to Kapiolani Park for his soccer game, where his brother and sister were already since they had earlier soccer games themselves. We stayed for a while, then left because I wanted to pick up something at Ala Moana. Didn't realize that the (covered) parking lot at Ala Moana near Macy's would be packed at 10:30 in the morning....I had to park on the rooftop so we wouldn't have to walk a mile to the store. We ate a late breakfast/early lunch then went back to Macy's. Bought my stuff, then wandered around trying to find a black jacket. Couldn't believe that in that huge store, there was absolutely no black jacket! Anyways, we left after that and headed to J's. Bought some stuff, then headed to Stamps & Memories to pick up more stuff. Went home to drop off all my bags, then went to Pearl Highlands to see Fast & Furious. My husband has been wanting to see this movie since it came out, but wanted to wait until the crowds thinned out....well, the crowds were definitely thinned out! I counted and there were 10 of us in the theatre! By the time we got home, it was 5:30, and I was exhausted! Needless to say, I did not have the energy to even think about crafting after that.

Sunday we had a birthday party to attend at Les Murakami Stadium (it watch the UH-Louisiana Tech baseball game). Of course I finished the birthday card right before we left (really, that's why I didn't have time to take a picture of it!)....

It was a new experience for us as we went to the Hospitality Room for a little while and after the 1st inning, we all sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy, got birthday cupcakes, then were told that the boosters needed the room from 2:00pm, so we went to find our seats. Turns out we were a few rows above where my parents sit (they have season tickets), so I was able to visit with them for a while. We left early since we had to go grocery shopping (and UH was losing), so we didn't get home until 4:30pm. Then I went to work diecutting invitation folders and mats for Michele (it wasn't too bad, Michele. I promise!).

So I didn't get to work on my Mojo Monday sketch, and it's time for the next one to start! I was hoping to still work on last week's sketch tomorrow, but I'm planning to make mochi for my husband for Boy's Day. It's going to be my first attempt, so I hope it turns out ok (crossing my fingers!)....

Well, if you stuck with me through all of this, you deserve a medal! Hope you had a nice weekend....

Make & Takes with Cheryl & Cheri

I was happy that I got to go to two Make & Takes with Cheryl and Cheri from Sizzix this week. On Tuesday, I dragged Michele to Crafts in the City, and we made a cute Hello Kitty card:

We used the Mimmy with Purse Sizzlit die and the Hello Kitty scalloped eyelet border dies, and glittered the background and "popped" her with foam dots. A Versamark pen was also used to add the polka dots to her purse. Do you think they used the word "Joy" because Joy from The Joy of Crafting was there? LOL...

Yesterday we went to Flora-Dec after work and made flower with a new Sizzix die:

I had some problems wrapping the floral tape around the wire stem, so it's pretty lumpy there. Gee, when I watch people do it, it looks so easy! Maybe I'm not meant to make flowers....

Anyways, just a short post today since I'm off to Hilo for the weekend (taking tomorrow off to make it a 3-day weekend), so I'll see you when I get back!

(Wonderful) Double Shaker Card!

So I spent (all day!) yesterday attempting to make a double shaker card....I followed the tutorial that Teri wrote (part 1 and part 2) and this is how my card turned out:

I have to admit that the reason it took me soooo long to finish is because I handcut all the little flowers and leaves that are in the back part of the shaker so that it would match the paper on the outside (I used the scraps from the corners that I cut off). The hardest part was gluing the pieces together to make them two-sided. The front portion of the shaker is filled with red and pink microbeads, and the back portion is filled with flowers, leaves and small green beads.

I colored a piece of white cardstock to make the backdrop of this card---I think that the sky turned out the best! In keeping with the flower-y theme, I used the Martha Stewart Floral Lace border punch to decorate the green base and put a blue flower gem (with a clear crystal gemstone added to the middle of the flower) next to the word "Wonderful". What do you think?

I'm hoping that if I make a couple more of these cards, that it'll get easier and faster. Teri, thanks for sharing a great idea and doing a tutorial! :D

Fun in the Sun

Today was a beautiful day and I actually did have a little fun in the sun! If you've ever seen me, you're probably laughing as my pale skin tells the story of how much I enjoy being in the sun! I'm always hot, so being in the sun is usually not too comfortable for me. My husband and I spent a couple of hours in Waimanalo where one of our nephews was having a Family Fun Day sponsored by his school. There were lots of burgers and hot dogs as well as slushies with soft serve ice cream (yum!), cotton candy and popcorn. There were also fun activities for the kids--they could have their face painted, get balloon shapes, or just swim at this beach below the pavillion area:

I just had to take a picture because the water was soooo blue and it really was a beautiful day (yes, I mentioned that at the beginning of this post, but it's totally worth repeating!). I didn't think to take my camera with me, so I had to take this picture with my phone. I think it came out pretty good....

By the time we got home, I was really drained from the short time I was in the sun and didn't have any energy to do stamping. I'm hoping tomorrow will be another story....

Cute Favor Boxes....and a Funky Card

I'm a little late in posting this, but wanted to share what my friend Korin, her mom and cousin put together for her nephew's 1st birthday party recently. As you can tell, the theme was Cars...

Aren't these just the most darling favors ever? I have to admit that I've never watched the movie, but I thought these really looked like the real cars in the movie! These boxes actually open up, and they were filled with candies. Most of the pieces that they added to the boxes were from punches.....AMAZING! I was happy that Korin let me pick any car I wanted....I picked the purple one in the middle (sorry, don't know his name! LOL) cuz that's my favorite color. Thanks, Korin, for the uber cute Car! :D

And I actually created a card last night. BUT it was a card for someone at work, who had a specific theme in mind. This is sooooo not my style, but she really liked it! Oh well, I guess to each his (or her!) own....

This is a 5" x 8" card so it could fit in a recipe-style box that was going to be presented to the guest of honor. All the cards in the box were going to be from the people at the party, who had to write about their favorite memory of the guest of honor. The story I was given by my friend at work was so ridiculously funny, it had to be true! If you're able to read the story that's typed on the top part of this card, you'll understand the strange creation below! Although goldfish are not usually found in swimming pools, this fish from The Greeting Farm was so cute, I had to use it! I couldn't find my Quickutz Paper Dolls die set, so I had to cut the person's okole (butt) and legs by hand. I made sure to not tack down the legs so that they could be moved to read the story printed on the white cardstock.

I dry embossed my blue paper with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder then tore it to create the effect of waves. I tore smaller pieces and mounted them on the big blue piece with foam tape to add dimension and allow me to put the diving swimmer behind one of the mini waves. This would also (hopefully) give the effect that someone was really diving! Did it work?

I added Stickles to the fishes and to various swirls on the blue paper to make it come alive a little more. This card made me go outside of my "comfort zone", but I think it turned out not bad.

Blog Candy Update....Make & Takes at Scrapbook Heaven....and Straight from Japan....

Haven't done much stamping/crafting this week (as you can tell by the total lack of posts this week....LOL!), but Michele and I met up at Scrapbook Heaven today and had lots of fun doing a couple of Make-and-Takes in celebration of their 2nd anniversary. The first MnT was with Cheryl. We made a cute and simple Hello Kitty magnet using the Hello Kitty Face Embosslit from Sizzix.

Didn't this turn out soooo adorable? Thank you, Cheryl! This really was quick and lots of fun!!

The next MnT that we did was with Jean from Dandelion Designs. We made the cutest Easter eggs ever using some of Jean's Easter stamps.

Although it may not seem like it from this picture, this egg is SMALL so the biggest(!) challenge for me was tying that little bow around the plastic egg (I think it took me longer to tie the bow than it did to color the image)! I just LOVE Jean's stamps because they're super cute and lots of fun to color. Thank you, Jean, for this sweet project!

And I wanted to share something that Michele brought back from her recent trip to Japan....NEW COPICS! OMG, these colors are so pretty! They are rather light and pale, but I absolutely LOVE them!!!

Besides this special set, I asked (OK, begged!) Michele to pick up some other Copic colors for me. Copics are in such demand here, so I have had a super hard time finding some colors. I think with all the stuff that I asked her to pick up for me, she had to bring home an extra suitcase! Thank you so super much, Michele! I know I'm a total pain, and I appreciate everything you do for me!!! :D

Embellishment Drawer

Today I was busy working on my Easter goodies for the girls (and boys!) at work. I finally busted out my Basket & Blooms die from SU! which I've had forever, but never actually used (like most of my stuffs)! I also used the new SU! Matchbox favor die. It was fun putting together all the pieces and now I just have to buy some candies to fill 'em up.

While I was making the matchboxes, I thought of making a little embellishment drawer set by stacking a few of the drawers on top of each other. I then wrapped the drawers up in some Hawaii Papaya DSP and added a Chocolate Chip button from the SU! Button Latte set, with a medium clear rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit to act as the drawer pull.

Here's a side view with the drawers partially open...

I didn't want the prongs from the brads to show on the inside so I inserted them before the drawer flap was pushed into the bottom. Clear as mud, right? Sorry, but I can't quite put it into words....

Although this took me a little while to put this together, it's actually a pretty fast project. The part that took the longest was doing the measurements and then figuring out what I was going to use for the drawer pulls.

Wow, it's been about a week since I last posted. I've been really bad about posting the past couple of months, yeah? Are you getting sick of me creating cards with images by The Greeting Farm? Hope not, cuz they are tons of fun to color! Today I used stamps from the Pretty Hat Anya set. I think she looks soooo cute all dressed up, taking her doggie for a walk.

Sorry if the colors don't really match. I just start coloring with whatever colors I'm "feeling", then look for papers and embellishments to match the colored image. For this card, I added the bow to her hat since I didn't care for the button and strip on the hat. This stamp set has a bunch of smaller images that I assumed I could use for her hat, so I did! hahaha....Here's a close-up shot of the bow on her hat. I added foam tape to the back to pop it. The word "cute" was cut from a piece of glittered and embossed paper from DCWV. I had to buy it since the sheet was full of fun words that I knew I could use by cutting out. I added some metallic Dew Drops and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

To make Anya look all glammed up, I used Liquid Pearls for her pearl necklace to add dimension and shimmer. And she's actually wearing make-up today! I saw some Anyas that Joy had colored and she had added eyeshadow to her lids, which I thought completed Anya's look.

Dancing in the Forest

Here is yet another card using an Anya image from The Greeting Farm. This one is using the new Ballerina Anya stamp. Isn't she the cutest thing?

Doesn't she look so happy prancing around in the forest with the wild mushrooms all around? I've been dying to use my mushroom die from Sizzix and was so happy that it totally matched the Imaginisce paper. I offset the mushroom on white so that it wouldn't get lost in the orange paper. And although I didn't have room to add any words to the front, I think it still looks cute. In hindsight I should have added some Stickles to the edges of her tutu skirt so she could shine like the prima ballerina that she is!

Fairy Chloe...FINALLY done!

So here I am posting a card I made with Fairy Chloe from The Greeting Farm...it only took me FOUR days to finish it! The coloring was done fairly quickly, but I couldn't figure out how I wanted to layout my card. I was driving my husband crazy constantly asking him if it looked OK everytime I decided to change the layout and colors. I'm sure he's super happy that it's finally done. Still not sure if I like it, but I wanted to move on and was getting sick of looking at Fairy Chloe (even though she is so super cute!)....

I think maybe there is too much going on with this card, but I like all the colors that were used. It looks very spring-like and happy! I'm going to send this card to my bud Kim in Vegas. I have known her for more than half my life (OMG! I'm getting old!). We met during our first semester at UH-Manoa when we shared 2 classes and a lab. We certainly didn't know at that time that we would still be friends today. She is the sweetest person! Who else could put up with me constantly ordering stuff online and having it shipped to her house, with no notice from me? I'm so bad that I always forget to tell her to expect something, and then she calls me up to ask if I ordered something because she received a package from a company she's never heard of! And when I want stuff from Michael's (or Target, when we didn't have any here), she always goes to pick stuff up for me. Kim, her husband and son are the best and I stayed at their new house last October when I extended my trip to Vegas so I could go to the NKOTB (LOVE them!) concert with her. That was the best and it brought back memories of when we went to their concert here in Honolulu years ago! Anyways to get back on track, Kim loves pink, so I think she'll like this card.

Here's a close up of Fairy Chloe and the flower:

I paper-toled her to make her pop, and the flower actually contains 5 layers under that halfback pearl! I used the Scallop Circle punch to make the 2 green layers of flowers by cutting between each scallop towards the middle. Since the swiss dot paper I had was just mossy green, I used my white gel ink pen to color each dot to balance the white on the card. I layered a sheer pink flower over a glittered pink flower before adding the halfback pearl on top.

Today was Kuhio Day, a state holiday (I was off---yay!), so I was able to take these pictures in my living room with the sun shining in. Boy, what a difference natural light makes!!

Here I am! Didn't realize it's been a week since I last posted (thanks for reminding me, Michele!), but things have been busy around here. My brother is finally getting married tomorrow, so there were lots of things to do. Since I'm such a procrastinator, I just finished making the wedding card we're going to give.

I apologize for the bad lighting, but I tried to fix it up the best I could. I used Shimmer White CS because it looked more formal than Whisper White. Only problem is when you use flash to take pictures of it, it makes the bride and groom on the card look like they have (shiny) dandruff or something! But IRL I promise it looks much better. This wedding card was really simple....I made my own quilted background by using my Scor-Pal to create diagonal lines, then added drops of Liquid Pearls where the lines intersected. Since I used Crystal Stickles on the bride's gown, I also added it to each Liquid Pearl dot to tie it together.

I added some of the new Whisper White organza to the top (it looked so plain!) to finish it off. Foam tape was used to adhere the quilted layer to the base and also to pop the bride and groom and the sentiment at the bottom. Sorry, I know that the pictures make the card look really flat, but it is quite puffy.

A Day Late...

Meant to post last night but my allergies hit yesterday and then I was sick by last night. Needless to say, I didn't have any energy last night to take pictures and upload to the blog until now.

Here's a card I made using the Mimmy with purse Sizzlit die that I picked up from J's a couple of weeks ago.

I've been working on this card for almost a week. I finished the top part over the weekend, but didn't know what to put on the bottom. Wanted to put ribbon somewhere, but realized that it just wouldn't work. I was too lazy to look for a phrase stamp, so I just used my Chocolate Chip marker and wrote on white cardstock.

I was really bad and didn't keep up with my end of the deal. We were both supposed to complete something for the challenge, but I didn't do anything because I was too tired. :( I actually made one of these mini purses for Valentines, with some minor changes to the measurements to fit my candies, and it was pretty easy. Thank you, Michele, for such a cute treat! You did a great job (as always)!!

It's a super cute Hello Kitty bag filled with a Hello Kitty mini album and a couple of packages of Hello Kitty stickers. I had gone to Scrapbook Heaven on Girls' Day (since I was off from work) to do the Make and Take bookmark, and entered my name at that time. I was so excited when Annie called the next day to inform me that I won! Isn't this the cutest thing???

I'm feeling a 1000% better than I did this morning, so I will be headed back to work tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Friday!
